Do you the story of how "Killing Me Softly" came to be written? Do you know who the other two artists are? You're the winner anyway. I can tell the story if you don't know it. It was also covered by The Fugees in 1996 and won a Grammy. Wonderful song. Let's all congratulate NoChops. I'll be doing another contest probably right after Thanksgiving. Woohoo! Please PM me your mailing address. I'll leave this thread up for a while, till everyone has seen the correct answer. Now Back To the Bench, Scott Memmer |

Folks, there are several different versions of how the song came to be. The most accepted one is that Lori Leiberman (the first female) saw Don McLean (the man) perform in a small club and was really moved by his performance. Let's remember that McLean wrote some very beautiful songs after American Pie, "Starry, Starry Night," "And I Love You So," "Three Flights Up," "Homeless Brother," etc. She went a told a couple songwriting friends, and they wrote the tune. Roberta Flack (the second woman) then covered it and had a #1 hit with it.
I really like The Fugees remixed cover. Here it is. Thank you all for playing. I shall return! |
