What I meant is that strat pickups are shaped like strat pickups be they high end or stock...so buying a mexican strat, you won't have issues putting a higher end strat pickup by say, Lollar, later.

The best thing about the Mexican Strat is that it has the same pickgaurd as the American Strat. What I did was buy a new Fender pick gaurd and added new pot and pick ups etc.... I have three pick gaurds for my Strat. One pick-gaurded is loaded with EMG SA 20's and the other pick-gaurd has the OEM Fender Strat pick ups. The EMG kit I installed had all the Pots switches, and hardware. I just cut the ground wire from the OEM pick-gaurd and installed my new pick-gaurd. I also have Kinman Pick ups loaded in a diff pick-gaurd.
