It has features that are uniquely Fender but its made by the same people Ovation Guild Hamer and Adamas in New Hartford CT. They actually pretty nice looking I saw them in person during a Guild factory tour.

They are indeed made in the New Hartford factory, which also produces Guild's, high-end Ovation and Hamer guitars.

The Fender's differ from Guilds with different necks (materials, headstock angle and profiles) and bracing

Edit: I missed the price the first time. Geez. $2k for a Fender acoustic.

Cause a larger chunk of the market is always a good thing. The more horses you have in the race, the more irons in the fire...that kind of thing. You know...like the same reason coca-cola doesn't just have coke. They have coke, new coke, coke zero, caffiene free coke, sugar free coke, cherry coke, vanilla coke...plus orange, cream sodas, root-beers, water, light water..ok maybe not light water but.....
Or why GM has Buick, Pontiac....oh...oopsies..nevermind.

More market share means more $. Plus...the general public sees Fender and thinks FENDER/GIBSON..same thing...it's the GOOD stuff. They don't know that Fender never made a truck...I mean acoustic...I'm thinking about GM again...that was any good.
Even a lot of guitar players I know lump Fender when they're talking about the "good" acoustics like Martins, Gibsons, and Taylors.
They'll sell 'em.

I don't know about Fender acoustics. I suppose if you're looking for something it that price range, they're OK... but since Fender now owns Guild, I'd buy an American-made Guild before I'd think about a Fender acoustic. It's just a better instrument.

IMO, "jojobean" is right. No guitar player in their right "mind" would buy a "Fender" aoustic for the price that Fender is charging. Put "Gretsch", "Guild", "Ovation", or "Tacoma" on the headstock, and you just MIGHT sell more. It really IS like electric guitarists buying a Martin electric guitar. Fender builds Telecaster and Stratocaster guitars. And Fender builds Precision and Jazz Basses. And these guitars are Fender's "bread and butter"...and I personally prefer for them to stay that way!
I know I'm not the only who believes that Fender IS NOT an acoustic guitar company....

Nope there rising in 1960s era USA Fender Acoustics. The prices are rising so they offering new high end guitars.

"In a recent post it was reviled that they are in cahoots on distribution."

Reviled might be too strong a word. : )

Basic question has been posed.. would you spend the money on a Fender acoustic or something else ?

My answer, somethng else.

Default Gibson influence???

Didn't Ren Fergesson recently defect from Gibson to Fender?

Any influence on the design of the new fenders?
