I am looking forward to seeing your final project. I have a wonderful LL35 that has a 4-5" crack in the back and one in the top. According to the Yamaha archives it has a Lacquer top/Polyurethane back and sides. Its that same thick yick finish. Kinda tempted to follow your path

Hello everyone, here's what I've done since my last post:
- I shaped and cut a new nut from a Colosi bone blank
- I shaped and compensated a new saddle from a Colosi bone blank
- I installed Loxx strap locks

I installed a k&k pure mini:

I made a new pickguard that matched the old one and covered the tan line:

I also added some white lining to the proa soundport:

I'm putting on a couple more coats of truoil over the soundport after sanding it flush and then its all done!

BTW, after making the new nut, fixing the nut action, relief and saddle action, I love playing this bad boy. It sounds awesome and feels so comfortable. It's amazing this was only $30 + some love.

To my eyes, although some work was involved, you had a great project. I wish I could get through some projects like that, but I lived and learned.

Congrats, real nice.

This guitar is a GEM.

Considering how much it costs brand new, then the $30 I paid for it, its an absolute steal. With the K&K pure mini in passive then run through my Venue DI 5-band sweeping EQ, it sounds even greater plugged in than unplugged.

If I get some time, I'll see if I can record some unplugged and plugged-in samples.
