Default Poll Which of these high end torrefied Dreads (Martin, Collings, Bourgeois)

Assuming all priced the same and ignoring playability, which would get your vote for the best tone?

I doubt many, if any, voters have played all 3 of these rare gems ... especially not in the optimum way for comparison, in the same room at the same time with the same strings of the same age.

That means the poll results will be of overall brand preference ... not that there's anything wrong with that.

If you're talking 'cooked' tops I'd prefer this new Limited Edition 1957 Gibson SJ-200 with torrefied top.
Reports are this is one of the best sounding SJ-200's Gibson has ever made.

Are you sure that's all the assumptions you want. Let's pretend they are all made out of mahogany. . ..........Mike

At this point I'm the only guy who voted for the Collings, but that in and of itself is meaningless. If I had that kind of disposable income laying around to afford one of those guitars, I wouldn't be buying a dreadnought.....

whm

PS: Of the three brands listed, Bourgeois has been the pioneer in building with torrefied woods. That in and of itself ought to count for something.

That's why I didn't participate.

This question is such a can of worms but I'd add Huss and Dalton to the mix. The cooked tops from them have been splendid

I opened up this poll thread hoping there was a choice along the lines of "I don't care one bit about a torrefied top - there are just too many super-fine guitars out there without it.".

It's all so silly.

The Martin D-28A '41s I've played are among the best sounding guitars I've ever played.

Sorry. Never played any of them.

I'd have to vote the pizza option on this one.

I wish I could answer the question. Nice guitars. The Authentic 37 has my interest, but I'd love to play either of the others.

I agree...and the best one I've played doesn't have a cooked top. (in all fairness I haven't played one with a cooked top yet)...

Count me among the ignorant. I own guitars from two of those brands and I've played many more, but I don't have hands-on experience that would allow me to compare those three models in particular.
