Good stuff everyone!

I'll be glad when our remodel is done so I can start making some recordings again!

Lots of good songs so far...

Here's my offering... one of my favorite songs (of many!) by The Band, "When You Awake"; from the "brown" album that was released in 1969.

Another song with my Angus 12 string, on the Tascam DR-05...

Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy it!

Willie - thanks so much for posting this! Your arrangement and voice are so great, I had to pick up the guitar and play along! Don't worry, I won't be posting the duet <G>

Roger Miller was one of the great country songwriters. The music of Hank Williams and Bob Wills inspired him to start writing. This song from 1964 proved popular with country and mainstream audiences. Recorded live into an app on my Android phone. Using whatever mic is on the phone. Breedlove dreadnaught guitar in standard tuning. Key of A.

I had a difficult time choosing what song to share with you all this month, because I have so many songs on my channel from the 1960's. So, I decided to share a bit more obscure one that is one of my favorites. A cover of an old Velvet Underground tune, 'Ocean'

Now, you may say, 'Wait, didn't that come out on 'VU' in 1985?' The studio version the Velvets recorded did, yes. And before that, Lou Reed has used it on his first solo record in 1972.

But... It's a 1960's song, as are most of Reed's earlier writings. It's first 'official' recording ended up on the 1969 Velvet Underground Live double album. So, it does meet our only requisite! Enjoy -

I've had one hectic month but finally found time to record something for this great fun thread. I voted for 60s only to discover that most of the songs I cover are from the 70s, doh!

So from 1967 here is a rather rough cover of Brown Eyed Girl. I feel like I could have done better on this, but then I feel that way whenever I listen to my recordings and it's way more fun to be involved than not.

I used the 50 buck Sweetwater gift card that I was so kindly chosen for last month towards a zed 10fx and a Seymour Duncan soundhole pick up, so hopefully by next month my recording may have improved if not my playing!

That was really good, very vibey (if that's a word). I just use my phone to record too, but I'm working on a small studio set up. I guess if I played and sang as well as you I wouldn't feel I needed any recording gear :-)

LOL! Well, our task for the August Showcase is to remodel some songs. I've got one ready to post.
