Congrats on the 000-15M. Hope it's all you expect it to be.

I had the end pin hole drilled out to accommodate a K&K PWM in my OM-21. I've been very pleased with the amplified sound.

I use DR Sunbeam 12-54's on the OM-21, but it has rosewood b/s with a spruce top instead of your all-mahogany. I've thought about trying a set of Martin Bluegrass light-mediums (80/20) just to satisfy my curiosity.

I used to think it was the MMV til it took a significant jump in price. I personally would go with a used HD28 for the difference in sound quality and overall quality. Otherwise probably a 16 series, but I really think you're getting more guitar (for a little less $$$ even) in some of the better imports in that $1K range......things like Adirondack Spruce tops and Ebony fingerboards for starters.

The DSR is a very nice guitar for the bucks!

They were custom made for Guitar Center and Musiciansfriend.com

Still a darn nice guitar!

I've got an OM1 too. Completely different animals these two gutiars: OM and dreadnought, solid mahogany and solid rosewood. Different bracing - non-scalloped on the DSR and scalloped on the 1 series. Different necks too - the DSR has a traditional mahogany neck with a nice dark piece of rosewood for the fretbaord. The OM has a flatter profile stratabond neck with a light colored piece f rosewood for the fretboard. To be honest, I like the flatter profile of the stratabond neck better, but I like them both just fine.

The decorative appointments on the DSR are also nicer than those on the 1 series of guitars, but they both have satin finishes. The finish is a bit more nicely done on the OM1 than on my DSR.

I like both guitars, but the DSR is more of an all-arounder, useful and nice for anything. Never played a D1 though, so this really isn't much of a comparison...

I'll post some pics when the 000-15m arrives... What strings do you all use?

"best" "least expensive"

does this mean the best guitar in a least expensive range?

does this mean the least expensive best guitar?

Why does it have to be a Martin?

I am confused about what you are looking for. Maybe best guitar in a certain price range would help.

The 1-series has a stratabond neck. Feels quite different.

"Best" of the least expensive Martins, Hans. That's how I read it. Posting a maximum price range is always a good idea.....agreed there.

The 1 series is probably the best combination of cost and sound. I'm not a huge fan, but If I hadn't found my DC16 I would probably have one of these.

I believe he has already purchased a guitar....probably a moot point at this time.

I looked at one of the 000-15 and really wanted it, but I was afraid it might not have the bass I wanted.

Good luck, TJE

I think this guitar is often overlooked because of the price. The Martin 000x1 and the Taylor 110 would be a good combo. A dread and a small body. Both mahogany, well balanced guitars. Same reason a lot of people like the 15 series in all sizes.
