Default Problem with Emerald rattle

Just received an Emerald X20 from fellow AGFer. It's great except for a rattle that seems to be in the neck--possible the tuners--but I think it's the neck. Any thoughts?

Does it have a truss rod?

Was it this one sold by Methos? That one has changed hands several times here already.

Yes, that is the one I sold. I did not notice the problem before selling it. We are working to resolve and if we can't to Frank's satisfaction then I will refund and tackle the issue on my end.

Any more ideas appreciated. I've reached out to Alistair as well.

Just reading the thread title, my first thought was a loose cable, or something, from the electronics.

I've had a rattle that was resolved by changing strings. It might sound like it's coming from the neck, but it can be tough to figure out exactly where it's coming from.

Also, make sure all hardware on the headstock is tight (all the nuts and screws on the tuners).

Problem resolved!! The nut on the high e was not able to seat into the tuning peg. Not long enough by a fraction of a fraction. Looks like the washer is not uniform and I will get another one. And it needs to be noted that Methos has been totally upfront throughout this process. I have always had the option to send it back, but as I liked the guitar except for this issue, I wanted a couple of days to try and figure it out.

I would buy another guitar for him in a nanosecond.

Might try a thin neoprene o-ring between the nut and washer to take up the difference if a new one doesn't work.

Rattles can be extraordinarily troublesome to find. Glad to know the source has been found.

Yay! So glad the problem was figured out. It really is a great guitar and I will own one again someday. Anyone considering a CF guitar should definitely look at the X20.

As for working with Frank - aka Transylvania - he's a great guy to deal with, excellent communication and willing to work hard to make a deal work. Buy or sell from/to him with confidence!

We are going to need a picture of that X-20 next to the WS3000 Rainsong.

Um... for comparison purposes, yeah.

I hope you didn't think I was insinuating that you sold the guitar knowing it had issues. I was simply making small talk, pointing out that this X20 is now on it's third owner. I see this from time to time on this forum, nothing personal.
