Default Taylor 110 neck problem

I've seen a used Taylor 110 for sale that has a gap between the heel of the neck and the body.

I believe this model has a bolt on neck. How easy would it be to reset the neck? Is it a job only for a skilled guitar tech?

If it is a bolt-on, it likely only needs to have its bolts tightened to close the gap.

Yes, but as always, there's a catch. The bolts are usually hidden behind a paper label on the end block.

As is often the case, Frank Ford has a good write-up of the process: http://www.frets.com/FretsPages/Luth...ylorreset.html

If the neck will not wiggle, I'd be a bit leery. I'm not sure if you could tell with the strings under tension. Take a tuner with you and see if the owner will let you loosen the strings. Then try wiggling it. You can re-tune it in the event you don't take it.

I'm pretty sure that model has the NT neck joint. At the factory, they put a putty of sorts in the gap around the heel. If this is the gap you see, its harmless. The two bolt joint pictured on frank fords site is a different joint. A gap on the two bolt neck joint means the bolts are loose.

Here are some pics I took of the Nt Joint a while back:
