Bridge weight...?
I just made an ebony bridge for my 12-string acoustic baritone jumbo guitar I am building.
Would a weight of 62 grams be alright? Drilling the 12 holes and the inlay slot should reduce the weight a tad more.

Have never built a 12 stringer so not very knowledgeable about their bridge weight. For 6 strings I like to get them light(more responsiveness) as I can and try for low 20's. Your quoted weight seems quite high to me. Maybe some 12 string builder will jump in and give more helpful data.

Sounds way heavy to me. I also go for low 20's on 6 strings, and also have never built a 12 string. But I have built a 13 string harp guitar, and the bridge on that one was 28g.
One of the tricks to making lightweight bridges is that it only needs to be tall in front of the saddle. You can ramp the thickness down to 1/8" or less at the back edge, to remove a lot of dead weight. Though it can make clamping more difficult. |

Weight...
I compared the weight of my self made one with a prefab one
I bought a decade ago: also ebony and it weighs 60 grams. But the suggestion of ramping it is perfect. Maybe I'll shorten the sides a bit too.

Just for fun, I tossed a Martin ebony 12-string bridge on our little postal scale and it reads in the neighborhood of 55 grams, so I'd say you're in decent company.
A word of caution about thinning the back edge of bridges - depending on the bridge plate and other factors, it can really increase the potential for cracking between the bridge pin holes.

This is my favorite 12 string bridge. A Brw Guild from about 1966. 47 grams as you see it. My preference: lighter is better.

Frank your answer eases me off a bit. When I make the 12 holes and route the slot
my bridge will be in the neighborhood of the one from Martin. The photos of the rosewood bridge below are very nice and show a lot of the ramping. But as mine is of ebony I guess it's not quite as light as rosewood.
