Default Larrivee vs Gibson - can you hear the difference?

Which is which?

Guitar #1:

Guitar #2:

The Larrivee is an OM-05 with EJ 16's (12s) stringing date 11/4/17

The Gibson is a J-45 with Martin Retros (12s) stringing date 1/13/18

Seems like I hear more balance in guitar two. Pretty close.

Both sound awesome. Guitar #2 sounds louder.

These threads are always great fun. Thanks for posting!

I am almost sure that Guitar 1 is short scale, and guitar 2 is long scale, so:
  • Guitar #1 is the J-45, and
  • Guitar #2 is the OM-05

The singing, sustaining trebles in #1 tell me it's an OM, therefore the Larrivee.

I liked both with a slight preference for #2 and I am with Ed on this one.

Best,

I thought the 2nd guitar had more "oomf" to it, therefore the deeper-body Gibson. This is cool though! Im gonna do one of these with my rosewood/Euro Larrivee and it's sitka/mahogany sibling, both the same body style. See who needs their ears cleaned out

We're starting to see a clear winner, another couple of hours for the reveal.
