Default Mix review before using for wedding? "There's You"

I wrote "There's You" and proposed to my fiancé with it. We are going to use it as our wedding invitation with all the wedding information on the sides of the CD sleeve.

How is the mix translating?
I'm posting a link of the mix at 24/44.1 for accurate referencing. I wanted the mix to maintain the intimacy of the message and not be overproduced(which is always tempting).

Thoughts?
Thanks for listening!

Sorry for the bad link. For some reason Soundcloud is compressing the mix and adding warble...etc.

Anyone have a better way to post wave files for streaming?

It sounds good to me. Very nice, in fact! I don't hear any warble or compression. Maybe you have updated the file by now.

I think I would save the song for the first wedding dance at the reception, rather than send this out as a wedding invitation. But that's just me.

Best of luck on your upcoming wedding and best hopes for a very long life together.

The mix sounds good, Grant. I might back the strings off just a bit, but that is just my preference. The song is beautifully written and performed!

Thanks Glenn and Bob for the kind words!
I'll take a look at the quartet levels again Bob.

Glenn, I promised myself that I would never sing or have my songs played at my own wedding lol. I've played at too many weddings and I know it's expected that I do something like that so I always like to opt for the unexpected. That day is about my bride and I don't want to be perceived as showing off or anything. Friends and family know that I proposed to her with this song so we thought it would be a fun way of announcing the date and info.
Thank you for expressing belief in the strength of the song for an actual first dance! I produced it with the intent and vibe of it being able to be used in the processional for someone somewhere.

Thumbs up

I think it sounded great and I don't think it would be perceived as showing off to sing to her in the wedding.....I actually would insist on it if you were my son.

I understand the reluctance to sing at your own wedding. My wife and I were a performing duo before we got married and we were asked if we would do a song together at the wedding ceremony by both ministers doing the wedding. Neither my wife and I wanted to do that -- turn it into a show. We were both extremely uncomfortable with that.

Our anniversary is coming up pretty soon -- first week of June. Let's see -- that was 47 years ago now... Wow... Time flies.

Again, Grant, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I hope all goes well for you both!

Wow! 47 years Glenn!? That's awesome! I hope for the same. My first marriage was a horrible experience, but my two sons are worth every miserable moment. Lol.

Thank you for the feedback guys! I'll check the strings out this evening.

Sounds great. Congrats on the new wife. I expect a NWD thread with wedding pictures, lol.

By the way, Grant, I didn't have any particular reaction to the volume of the added strings in your arrangement. I am used to hearing a live string quartet play with other instruments or voice, and in that kind of arrangement, the strings are by definition more prominent. So many of us are used to "strings" being background fillers, similar to a "pad" on a keyboard synthesizer, and so we expect this background "pad" to be less "up front" in a stereo mix.

I took your arrangement to be more like playing guitar and singing with a string quartet, and in that context, I thought they sounded about right.

Just my two cents from a somewhat different perspective...

I've lowered the strings only by -1db and it seems to sit a little better for the vocal. I also gently tuned the strings just a hair and added a tad of low end on the vocal. And clarified the fretless bass a tad.
I'm pretty happy with this new mix. Thank you everyone for the help!
