I have Gretsch Tenor Ukulele and really like it though I haven't traveled with it yet. Actually I would love to have another tenor uke, maybe a Koaloha will see if I can get a deal at Scotty's in Lihue next week.

I have two Yamaha GL-1 guitaleles....one at home, and one in my office... I like them a lot, and I set them up with a re-entrant E to E tuning...like a regular guitar, but with strings 4,5&6 one octave up. GREAT sound.
And then I have a couple of baritone ukes, but I play them less and less, even if I find them quite versatile.

A Tacoma Papoose is a terrific choice if one prefers steel strings on a wide neck.

My main instrument these days is a Gretsch G9100 soprano uke. Amazing for the price. I used to own a vintage Gretsch soprano ca. late 40s - 1950s, and the new Gretsch ukes are far superior, IMO, even though they are laminates and not solid mahogany.

Not to start a debate, but strangely tenor ukes are the only uke scale I never got on with. Sopranos mainly, but I own a linear-tuned concert and have enjoyed many baritones though I don't currently own one.

In my experience, fun to play, but very thin, low volume, brittle (for lack of a better term) and not very resonant sound.

Thanks. I just saw one in my local classifieds. (Always have gas) The guy is very stubborn on the price. So won't even look at It.

To me, even though they are bulkier, for a travel guitar the Baby Taylors and Yamaha FG Juniors are a lot more pleasing. I also prefer the Washburn Rovers to the Backpacker, by a smidge.

The only guitalele I've played is the recent Gretsch model, and I really liked it.

Thanks Muddslide. Appreciate the input. Like I said don't need anything, just enjoy the classifieds.
