It looks very much like a single-pickup version of my AR372CE - an ES-165 copy as opposed to an ES-175 like mine.

Unfortunately the Eastman website doesn’t show it - maybe an AR371?

Eastman AR371CE (also available - and gorgeous - in blonde), a latter-day rendition of a circa-1960 single-humbucker ES-175 (the 2-PU was called ES-175D) - swap the tailpiece and you might be hard-pressed to tell the difference. No longer in the lineup but fairly inexpensive on the used market, with good-to-excellent examples generally selling for well under $1K:

I consider myself schooled.

I was under the mistaken impression that the single pickup ES was the ES-165, and the dual, the ES-175.

I now know better, and won’t dare make the same mistake again.

I was right about the AR-371, though

No worries, and an honest mistake if you came to the archtop game only recently: FYI the original single-pickup ES-175 (introduced in 1949 with a single P-90, and out of production since 1971) was reissued in the '90s as the Herb Ellis ES-165, retaining all the characteristic features of its circa-1960 PAF predecessor until it acquired a suspended pickup a la Johnny Smith (in the early-2K's TMK)...

Thanks, Steve. The primary reason for my confusion is that a dear friend of mine owned an actual ES-165 for a while - I’ve seen it and played it - so I always thought that that was the ‘single pickup ES-165’. Now that he and I are beginning to dabble in more jazz-oriented stuff, he’s regretting ever selling it - but we all know how that game goes around here.

At least our OP should know what to be looking for now

Thanks, Steve and David, for enlightening me on the Eastman AR371CE and the model sure seems nicely priced on the used market.
