Cordoba GK Pro Negra and Solista. I'm using Savarez Cantiga basses with MariP 100 trebles. Love the sound & feel. I also recommend you check out Augustine Imperial trebles. All are normal tension strings.

Do you have or know where I could "hear them"?

Thanks... gene

I might have a spare set of Mari 100p. If so, I'll PM.

For me, a wound third is the only string that solves the "tubby G" problem!

Not a classical player, but I did some experimenting and found that the Savarez 510MR - Cristal/Alliance/Cantiga gave me the most balanced sound. I have a g compensated saddle and noticed that the thinner g string in that set is a little off on intonation. So I'm actually thinking of staying with the same strings for now and setting up two different saddles depending on the strings I'm using.

And, again, I'm not a classical player by trade, so if something about that sounds stupid, I'm sorry.

I don't care to try mixing strings from different sets. For my New World Player (spruce/rosewood) I've settled on Oasis high tension with carbon trebles. For this guitar, of the strings i tried, they gave the best transition sound between the wound D and the G. I'm sure there are other strings that would work, but I'm sticking with the Oasis set for now.

This is a frequently discussed topic on the Delcamp Classical Guitar forum. The popular choice for a nylon string G is Savarez New Cristal 503CR. To my ears it's the brightest non tubby nylon G string of the many I've tried. (On several different guitars)
Knobloch Actives Carbon are my overall favorite G string. Strings by Mail sells individual strings for $4. A similar sound, but narrower diameter and less expensive per string is Seaguar Premium Fluorocarbon 80 lb test fishing leader.
But you have to spring for at least a 25 yard spool to get it.

Yes, in most of the videos where I'm playing the New World Player, certainly the ones from the last few years, I'm using the Oasis high tension strings with the carbon trebles.

Well, then, I didn't know I was with the popular crowd! I came to the same conclusion on the Cristal in the Savarez 510MR - Cristal/Alliance/Cantiga set.

My issue is the thinner string on a compensated saddle now seems out of intonation? Does that sound right?

Not being a classical player, but more a folk and pop kinda guy, I did a lot of experimenting with string combinations for my Cordoba Gypsy King guitar.

I finally settled on a wound third to gracefully transition from the B to D strings. By that I mean sound and feel is pretty seamless. Here's what I ended up with:

1st: Savarez Alliance KF 541J - 1st string (e), high tension .0252
2nd: Savarez Alliance KF 542J - 2nd string (b) high tension .0280
3rd: Savarez Traditional 527R - 3rd string (g), high tension
4th: Savarez Corum 504J - 4th string (D) high tension .0299
5th: Savarez Corum 505J - 5th string (A) high tension .0358
6th: Savarez Corum 506J - 6th string (E) high tension .0441

If you are so inclined, you can order this exact set as a custom concoction from strings by mail.

I have not found the thinner fishing line leader strings to have intonation problems.

Thank you.

Do you only use the thinner third string and/or is your saddle compensated?

"Best nylon "G" string recommendation"

You guys are much too serious if you let a straight line like that go by for so long.
