Default Emerald X20 12 string

Does anyone own one or have played one? Love to hear your thoughts.

I own an Emerald 12 string on the 12 side of the Chimaera doubleneck, but I doubt it’s really a fair representation to answer your question. The only member here that I know of is Earl49 who has an X20 on order, expected in Dec., I think. So you may have to wait until Earl gets his and posts about it. Earl also briefly had a Chimaera 6/12 but couldn’t bond with it due to shoulder/hand issues, I believe.

I played Doubleneck's Emerald 6/12. I've dabbled in 12 strings throughout my years of play, but have always found them cumbersome and not particularly easy to play--the Emerald was an eye opener. For two necks the guitar was remarkably light. the 12 string neck was a pleasure and the sound was marvelous.

I've owned an X20 12 String Artisan for over 4 years. It's a killer guitar. It was the first Emerald guitar I ever purchased. I found it used at a guitar center at a heck of a deal. It plays very easy for a 12 and really sounds fantastic like about every Emerald I've owned or played.

I've also owed and older CA 12 string and a couple of the Rainsong WS3000 12 strings. They were all nice but my nod would go to the Emerald as far as tone. The offset soundhole that rounds from the top to the side is really the ticket to me. It sounds a little less compressed when strummed to my ear.

Hope this helps!

I haven't played one, but like Evan, I played the 12 side of Doubleneck's chimera. I've also played a X20 6. If I had a deep guitar budget I'm pretty sure a X20-12 would be in the mix.
