a used Taylor 310 (like mine) is a great all around guitar which you can score for that budget if you buy used.

I think the Eastman E20SS and E10 SS are phenomenal guitars, and can be had used at your budget. Also the Farida OT series at Elderly deserves your attention. Finally the Martin 15 series used is probably the apex at the price point.

I just did a search similar to yours. I ended up with a used Eastman HE422ce, which is a grand auditorium model, like the classic Taylor shape. Came in well under your budget. Like so many others here, I strongly, strongly recommend an Eastman.

I love me a good Martin 000-18. But if I ever do get serious about buying a short scale OM size with spruce over hog, I feel like I have to go give the Eastman e6om/e10om a try. They really are fantastic, and even when you're willing to spend more, I think they deserve an audition.

I agree wholeheartedly (as well as any other Eastman E series). Also, the Larivee and Breedlove American suggestions make sense, as well as the Farida, and Seagull S6. The older Epiphone Masterbilts, as suggested are hit or miss, but a good one is a keeper. Also and Taylor DN3, DN4 if you can find one.

I would recommend getting a used Yamaha ls6 and pocketing a ton of cash. I don't think there is a better sub 1k guitar (to my ears).

Hi Prog Pirate,

I see you list your location as Delhi India. I think it would help us out if you could link to some local online shops in your area in order to see what is available, in your price range, in your area of the world. I know that some pricing differences can be found across the globe and something in your budget that could be found in America, might be more expensive or not even available where you are located.

Also helps to give the budget in your local currency. Using my converter app, it shows 800 USD converts to approximately 51,514 INR. Is that correct?

Anyway, I did a quick search and looks like you can get an Epiphone masterbilt all solid dread with cutaway in your budget.

http://www.furtadosonline.com/produc...h--208580.html

That guitar above would cost about $650 USD over here, but looks like it runs $736 over there.. showing some guitar pricing is different between our countries. That makes it harder to recommend the best buy for you in your country. So, give us some links to the popular musical instrument dealers in your country and you will get better replies.

Ibanez AVC6. It has Martin 000-18 specs. $500 new. Light weight, well built, feels and sounds great!

I don't know if Martins are sold in India but if they are (and perhaps others where they are definitely available could benefit), I want to give a shout-out to the GPRS1, in the Road Series. It may be a little off target for the thread starter, since it doesn't have a dreadnought shape, and it's made of Sapele. But that's a mahogany-esque tonewood, it has a gorgeous sound that opens up over time, and at $759 US it is at least theoretically in the rice range. 1 3/4 nut. Only drawback by my lights is the Fishman Sonitone pickup, not outstanding. I bought it as a gig guitar and I'm very happy with it.
