I played a few nice guitars and Gruhn's and Carter's, but I have to say my senses are not refined enough to tell enough difference in the really vintage stuff and nice new stuff from the major makers to really notice.
I really liked the new Taylors and Martins at Gruhn's at Carters had a really sweet butterscotch Tele I liked. In "real life" a friend of mine has a really sweet 1953 D-18 which was really nice to play and hear. I've also played at 50-something Tele and a 50-something 335 that I guy I know has. I really enjoy my plain-old run of the mill 2015 D-18. I play it everyday.

A friend's 00 (or at least in that ballpark - not a traditional 00 shape) by the late Lance McCollum. Very sweet guitar with just the right amount of sustain and so playable. This guitar begs to be played with the flesh of the fingers - the tone just floats out of it.

perhaps not the nicest but it certainly surprised me how good it was.
One of the new Fenders, ( jeeez ! did I just say that ) The real nice one was a OM21, they are all good but this one was special, the guy was willing to sell, should have bought it |

It wasn't recent, but I got an old Martin handed to me a few years back as we were changing places at an event. I didn't really care to try it, but the owner was so proud and insisted and what really caught me off guard was how full and rich it was despite having been so small.
Wonderful guitar and I fully understand why the owner was so pleased.

Two special ones come to mind.
I was at a session at Mole End Studios in Brentwood, TN years ago and Scott Dente came in as a player with several guitars, including a beautiful Olson. He let me noodle on it and told me that it had been a gift from Phil Keaggy. Same one that he used on Wind and the Wheat and other recordings. The other was an amazing McPherson (among many others) that I was able to prepare for Richard Marks while guitar tech'ing for him at the Night Out With Friends PBS special at the Arcada in St. Charles, IL. (go 15:10 in)
