Smile Ordered…

Y’all have convinced me. I just ordered one. Thanks TT for the 10% AGF discount!

I intend to start on a very interesting Eastman which is pretty young and new to me recently. Thanks Dodahdoug…

I expect this to open up considerably. I have just put a ToneRite on it, and will switch when the TT arrives.

Play on and have Fun

Paul

To add a little bit to this discussion - I decided to give the TT a go. I also have used a ToneRite and this strikes me as the TR on steroids. The pad seems to last about 12 hours unplugged and the speaker about 24 hours. I have mostly used it on two guitars - Bourgeois touchstone Vintage D and an Eastman E20SSv. The Bourgeois was about 3 months old and the Eastman I just received. The Bourgeois has responded amazingly to several 10-12 hour sessions. Definite increase in volume, sustain, overtones, etc. The Eastman is a little harder to tell since I began using the TT right after receiving the guitar. I have also been playing this one a lot. The tone on the Eastman has gotten more complex with great overtones and definite increase in sustain. It is hard to say whether it is from playing or the TT treatments. I have not had it long enough to say whether the affects are permanent. It is a little on the spendy side. If I only had one guitar that I played all of the time, I am not sure I would have purchased it. I have also not tried the single string or single note treatment that is available in the software.

Thanks. Which port for which?

I honestly don't know. I would assume the 2.4A port allows for higher amperage and quicker charging. When needed I hook the tablet to the 2.4 and the speaker to the 1.0. Maybe the good folk at Dr Herringbone can chime in.

Smile 20% off…

This from TT today. I pre-ordered and saved 10%, as well as the AGF 10%

It will ship when the new batch arrives at TT world headquarters. Haha

“ Sounds great paul! Glad to see you using the AGF code and the pre-order promotion. Feel free to share the fact that you can pretty much get a Tone Traveler for 20% off right now.

We'll get your order out in the next few days when our new shipment arrives!

We can't wait to hear what you think about your TT.

Best,

Isaac
Co-owner”

Pretty cool so far!

Cheers

Paul

Got mine today and have it on my little mahogany Martin at full blast. Have it in a closet with some blankets around to muffle the sound. Will report back in a few days. Thanks, Isaac.

I tend to run mine just on the low E and A strings to keep noise down until no one is around to run them all.

Smile Update

Got it today, and it is wailing on my new (to me) Eastman.

Two things to note.

It is really loud, and I searched for a volume control in the booklet and online videos. I couldn’t find the poop, so I called, and Jerry told me to use the volume control on the side of the tablet. Duh…. The volume can be lowered a LOT.

Jerry said it should work just fine, it just may take a little longer at less volume.

Second. When I hooked it up, the Bluetooth in the speaker wanted to mate with my phone, so it didn’t want to work properly with the tablet. I looked in the little booklet and it said to power it off. And then turn it back on. When I did this, it worked dandy.

So, I will report more soon.

I do wish it had settings for D tuning, and different open tunings, but Jerry said it should work well even though I am always tuned down to D or open D, etc.

Hopefully they will include them eventually. I know a lot of folks who tune down
to E flat or D. Not to mention DADGAD, etc.

But this technology is new and they are just getting going

It was nice to call and speak with the folks there, and not a robotic voice mail!

Thanks Jerry

Paul

I hoped this would help others here. I expect when they do another booklet it will have this volume control info.

Cheers

In one of their videos they specifically caution against touching the volume buttons during boot up of the tablet or you enter a world of pain.

As for charging, here is what works for me to keep the TT running continuously:

Plug the pad into the charging block/cable provided. Keep the speaker plugged into another charging block with usbc to usbc port (Anker fast charging block is what I am using). Works perfectly.

So far, good things to report with the TT. Happy with my purchase.

Due to this caution I waited till all was running at the default LOUD volume.

Then I used the volume button on the side of the tablet.

Cheers

Here’s my take. Had mine for about a month. One newer guitar I always felt was always stiff to play. After the first over night treatment I noticed a big difference in tone and volume. From there it took another week or 2 on it most days and it finally lost the stiffness and I am pleased. It feels broken in finally.

I was going to ask how to keep this puppy working 24/7

I now have the tablet and speaker both plugged into the charger and the provided usb cables are long enough to work where I have my guitar hanging on its string swing. Fortunately there is a little shelf next to the hanger!

It did sound a bit better this morning, after the first 12 hours or so, and I have high hopes for the future!

Default Alternate tunings

Hey folks so glad guys are enjoying their Tone Travelers! As for alternate tunings feel free to use the note page. Kevinplarson shared a really really useful graphic with me that I am going to attach that shows the note names and numbers mapped out on the fretboard. It's pretty low res so I will revearse search it for the full res verison but it is still legible!

That being said...

D tuning would be:
D2 G2 C3 F3 A3 D4

DADGAD would be:
D2 A2 D3 G3 A3 D4

Eb would be:
Eb2 Ab2 Db3 Gb3 Bb3 Eb4

Also you will probably hear a little difference after the first 12-24 hours but the real magic window for big differences as far as we've seen is the 72-90 hour time period and then of course the just continue to get sweeter with age/play time (I wish I did too haha).

Best,

Isaac
