Default Guitars for Trade website

Has anyone had any experience with "Guitars for Trade" online?
I just happened upon the website, which is this:

https://guitarsfortrade.com

Curious if it's any kind of a smooth, fair trade option - without too much of a monetary hit on the person trading... or if it's pretty much the same as what many of the guitar shops do...

Thanks

Some of the guitars I saw are new which means this is partially (at least) a different approach at down payment.

The website is run by a reputable guitar store in CT. Give them a call if you have questions.

These folks are the best, I've bought dozens of guitars from them in the retail store. One of them was a fabulous trade in from Maryc-k.

So can you purchase a guitar straight out without a trade? Just curious...

I guess the question is what one would be offered towards a trade in. I would assume you can get more by selling your self, even if you have to take a bigger hit then you would like.
But you never know until you ask.

Edit...just read their faqs section and sounds reasonable.

Traded a Bourgeois SJ for my SCGC H-12 with them. Worked with Brian.
Trade value was all I could ask for and the entire transaction went smoothly and professionally.

Don't see any prices posted. It's like buying blind.

It's not like buying blind. You can easily research sales prices on common models using Ebay and Reverb, not to mention other retailers (for brand new models).

Plus, sometimes you are not very fixated on exact trade values; you are willing to trade yours for a less expensive model, just for the sheer convenience of having no money exchanged.

I think this sales concept is pretty compelling. Normally, the used guitars in a shop are consigned, so the shop can't trade them to a buyer in exchange for another instrument. They have to pay the consignor first. This shop has figured out a way to facilitate that type of exchange.

How many of us have $$$ invested in potentially superfluous guitars and would love to just do exactly this? Methinks quite a few.

Acoustic Music is a very reputable shop (I'm lucky enough to have them in my home town). Good people.
