Default Guild brand sold

It appears that Fender is selling the Guild brand to a California company called Cordoba music

Interesting! I actually really love Cordoba classical guitars. Their GK Negra is one of the best bang for the buck guitars as far as sound/playability to price go.

I'm curious to know what they'll be doing with the guild line considering they pretty much have no steel string guitars in their line.

Last company I would have ever expected to buy the Guild name.

Fascinating....

I really hope this is works out well for both companies. Guild was really turning out some first rate guitars the last few years and I would love to see that continue.

This development is preferable to having FMIC run Guild into the ground. I hope the new owners can match the standards of the New Hartford factory - I love my D40 Bluegrass Jubilee.

Wow. I think this is encouraging. Not sure anyone could do worse than FMIC. Glad their reign of terror has come to an end.

This is from Fender's site...

Frankly I am optimistic, at least it is an acoustic guitar company! Still sad that the New Hartford facility will close. Wonder if Doyle Dykes and Ren Ferguson come with the deal?

Does Cordoba actually build in their own facilities? Looking at their lines, they seem to be imports and higher end models built by contract craftsmen. I would tend to think the imports will get the most attention initially.
