Default Buzz on G string

I have a great custom 00-15sm. I’m getting some buzz - with and without fretting of notes. Any idea why? I keep track of humidity fairly well. It’s getting more humid now. Strange it just changed with that string.

Questions...

1) Does the guitar have open-back tuners?
2) If yes, are there washers under the tuner-bushings on the front of the headstock?

If the answer to both questions is yes, try putting a finger on the G-tuner’s bushing while you play the string. If the buzzing stops, it’s the washer buzzing. This has been a common problem with the open-back tuners on Martins - those washers aren’t meant to be there, they serve no purpose because the bushing is Press-fit, not screw-in, but for some unknown reason Martin have chosen to add them, even though the tuners aren’t supplied with washers by the manufacturer.

If it is the washer, you can remove them by removing the tuner, pushing the bushing out of the hole from the back, replacing the bushing without the washer, and re-installing the tuner.

Just an idea.

Check to see if the saddle developed a notch or nick under that string and also if the ball end of the string is against the backplate.

Can you explain a bit more?

And also, what is the right orientation of the way the end of the string sits under the saddle - the barrel end?

Buzz on G string ... isn't that a strip joint?
