Build thread: Circa OOO-12 (Euro Spruce/Mun Ebony)

I often ding the excessively-figured wood used today to be unappealing in terms of physical qualities and "clash" with the beautiful, simple for of the guitar. Yours is a fantastic exception, because there are some nice stretches of sound, stable, straight grain, and the highly figured areas have swoops and curves that fit right in with the kinds of curves the guitar, itself, shows. Looks to be a beautiful build. What a nice design -- and what fine materials.

Great~ We will have 2 incoming guitars from John next year! I ordered 000 for a shop collection and I also chose for a solid head without inlay!

Currently we got a German/African Ebony OM that has a modern side of sound & aesthetic. It is another superb sounding Circa OM! I am looking forward to hearing the sound of your Mun Ebony 000~

The one on the far right is the prototype for John's new OMX model. I have one of those coming up in the next batch!

That sounds interesting. What is an OMX model? Is it having the dimensions of the enlarged OMs that Somogyi and many of his ex apprentices r building?

Very similar to a bunch of modern builders OM models, but instead of a 15" width as on a Martin, this one has 15-3/4" width. I really like it. What do ya think? I may design a new bridge and head shape as well....

That certainly sounds like that kind of "OM". Is yours going to the very first OMX? I look forward to seeing your thread!

The first one is the one in the above picture, I don't know if it's an order or a spec guitar. I believe that he has mine and one more in the next batch. I have been on his list for 3 years I think, we never really decided what I wanted and when he told me about this new model it sounded interesting. I already have a Circa 00 12 fret with a cutaway, so I didn't need to recreate that

Thanks for sharing! This is pretty awesome. Prior too this thread, I had no idea John built in batches. Just like Olson! I wonder how many other luthiers build in (small) batches.
