Ok, here's two recordings made by me of a blues tune arranged by Woody Man, Mr. Jefferson's Blues.
The first is played on a $200 Washburn D-10S (solid spruce top/laminate hog) and the second on a $2,300 2016 Gibson J-45 standard. I think maybe the choice of guitar itself is overrated as well. Even though to my ears the J-45 sounds fuller with more sustain, to a casual listener and a non-player, I bet they would just think the tunes are played by different people. I'm not sure if the blues is the best style to use for a sustain conversation as there's a lot of palm muting going on here. Please note that my playing is equally poor with both guitars, lol. It is the player, not the guitar! Washburn: Gibson:

I think the best example of mine for this thread is my "Sunday's Comfort". I just uploaded a little better version to my Soundcloud.
As mentioned, the early section was a bit of experimenting I was doing with the natural reverb/ sustain of the guitar (Doerr Legacy) and this led to coupling this with an existing tune I had called "Comfort". The result became "Sunday's Comfort". I bet you'll never guess what day I was working on this! Slower paced and a bit of a different piece for me. In DADGAD.

I think the point of this thread has been served and many of you are upset with it, so it is closed. Thanks for your participation.
