Steve Stevens is really a great player. That Taylor sounds horribly thin and quacky though. Ugh. Not a fan of that tone.

Maybe it's because it's a maple back. He'd rather go for an 814 than a 614. Can someone tell him?

Yes, that's almost as bad as plugged-in can sound, but I enjoy his writing/guitar parts.

Acoustic rock?

3 Doors down (alternative rock) just recently released a new acoustic album. It might be worth taking a look at.

Might not be your thing. But Days of the New comes to mind. But they are more hard rock. Other than that all the MTV unplugged stuff.

I loved Moby Grape - saw them several times back in the 1960s. That LP remains one of my favorites. Do you remember when they airbrushed the "offending" extended middle finger over the washboard out.

Notes on the very obscure band and a second link to Amazon where I'd recommend listening to the samples of:
Paradise Bar & Grill
Love's Not the Way to Treat a Friend
Cherokee Queen
Harfy Magnum
Copper Plates

Hey Wolf,
Actually I remember when they first put a removable sticker over the finger and then finally airbrushed it!

I even owned 'Oar' when it first came out............

I've only seen them when they played on Mike Douglas as 'The Moby Grapes'..........and of course all the youtubes that are up now.

I actually owned 2 Gibson L-5CES guitars because of Jerry Miller............I still did not play like him and the **** thing was way too big for me, but that's how I learned what's good for me, and what ain't.

It's always amusing to see the 'kids' here going through the same thing, and not listening to the voice of experience...................:-\

Best,
Howard

Might be more on the side of "folk" but Simon & Garf's "Concert in the Park" is great. I'd get the video actually. Oh wait! I have it .

Dave,
Yikes!!!

If you only heard 'Equinox' on the radio and ran out to buy the record, you were in for a surprise.

Must have been cousins of Frank Zappa..............'Amphetamine Giraff'??

Yikes!!!!

Wow- 3 pages deep and not a mention of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's first album: CSN... songs like "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes: and "Guinnevere" etc.. this is an acoustic must IMHO. Also their Deja Vu album is a classic. Great Martin tones on these.

Also I like:
Cat Stevens- "Tea For The Tillerman" and "Teaser And The Firecat"
Joni Mitchell- "Blue" , "Miles Of Aisles" almost any early stuff- later on "Night Ride Home" is a good one
Jethro Tull- "Thick As A Brick"
James Taylor-too much to mention

now get busy

Mike

I love this record! Great songs and singing, a favorite of mine.

Also, Any early James Taylor, especially Sweet Baby James.
