Default Peg

Over a year ago several of us sat down and shared a vision for covering the amazing music that had been a major influence on each of us. The artist at the top of all of our lists was Steely Dan. We've picked five incredible Steely Dan songs trying to capture the grooves, the chord structures, the instrumentation, and the creative genius in their writing and playing. We welcome our friends Tom, Jim, Kenny, Dan, Tyler, Kevin, Jessica, Liz and Amanda to the Lab! As always, thanks for listening - Lexington Lab Band

That was great.

I grew up with an audiophile older brother who was one of my guitar mentors. He was a *HUGE* Steely Dan fan and Aja was one of his favorite albums. Needless to say, it was playing all the time.

So, I've listened to Peg hundreds and hundreds of times (liking it every time).

I really thought your rendition was superb.

Jeeze, super impressive. Love to see a bunch of musicians who know exactly what they're doing and having fun. This was great.

Wonderful rendition... such a tough song to cover well... heck, it's a tough song to even come close to covering! Very well done by all... the guitar solo is, of course, legendary; how many amazing guitarists tried to play the thing the way Donald and Walter wanted it, yet fell short? Props to you for giving it a go... and I'm pretty sure that Jay Graydon did NOT play that solo in one take!

Thanks for posting! Any plans for more Steely Dan tunes? Very enjoyable (and I admit that I followed your link with extreme trepidation... I've heard well-meaning folks butcher the Dan!), and thanks again...

All I can say is, "FAR OUT MAN! You guys and gals are the real deal. Though I enjoyed the instrumentation, the key to a really good band is that the vocals are the spotlight...and the vocals here are INCREDIBLE and dead on key.
Glad you guys spice up the forum a bit every now and then with songs like this.
Ed

Dale !!!!!

Steely Dan is my favorite "adult rock/jazz" band, Peg was great. I hope you add "My Old School", I still do "Dirtywork" in my solo gigs.

What a Band !@!!!
