Default Mississippi John Hurt's Back Porch - Shake That Thing!

Once more my imagination at work. I was wondering what it would be like sitting on Mississippi John Hurt's back porch. Thus the crickets and The Mad Cow.

Thanks for listening!

Thanks, Bob! This MJH tune is one of my first fingerpicking tunes. Songs were scarce at one time, so I found this in one of those old Oak Production books at the library.

Good catch, Luke!

I have a collection of soundbytes that I use for these projects. If I can't find the right one, then I check the Internet.

We all have times on the guitar where we just have a dry spell on ideas. Shake That Thing is known as a "One-Chord-Wonder". I just wanted to illustrate that even MJH can experience that same thing. He was trying to think of variations, but all the distractions kept him looping and he was making no progress.

Anyway, I loved this project because it emphasizes what we should all strive for on the guitar... namely, just having fun with it.

Well done, Noman. MJH is one of my all-time favorites. Do some more of his. I have to admit… I liked the guitar a lot better than the nature noises though.

Bud, thank you so much for supporting all my efforts. You've always been there for me and I appreciate that a lot. It's hard being Captain Kirk without a crew or not having a hot babe down in sick bay.

Hey, Toby!

That was a thematic thing that I did. Most of my songs have my influence whether they want to or not.

Would I change it? Nope, it says exactly what I want it to say.
