Default Boveda Humidipacks

Hey all. Just bought some Boveda humidipacks (49%) to put in my Taylor. One set I'm suppose to drape over the strings, but the edges of the packs sit on the bottom of the guitar. This makes me nervous. Guess I could bunch up the top to reduce contact but it's not what I'd prefer to do. Thoughts? Thanks.

No need for concern, sir.

Assuming you've got the new Humidipak kit, the interior of the pouches is leak proof (or leak resistant, depending on who you ask).

I have a set in each of my cases...and on all of them, the pouch contacts the inside of the back interior of the guitar.

As long as you are careful with storing your cases, and don't lock a hungry rodent in there, too, you'll be just fine.

I even sit my cases on their side, so the pouch kinda falls to the treble side bottom of the sound hole, and theyre still fine.

Inspect the Boveda bag well, before you put it in the pouch, and rest easy.

The felt cover should protect it. I’ve been using these packs for over a year, they’re soft, and you will have no issues.

I have been using them for the last eight years and they have touched the back of just about every guitar I’ve used them in and have had no issues with them.

I have Bóveda (same product as humidipak) in just over 30 guitars, and I have never had any problems. They are a particularly good solution for those who are away from home a lot and can’t always be there to keep up with the humidifier. On the down side, they aren’t the best option for the thrifty, especially when you have more than a couple of guitars. I think of the cost as being a monthly utility bill.

You can put them in the accessory pocket as well as the area under the head stock. They don't have to drape over the strings.

Also If you drap them over both e strings should help with the touching. When I started I would do it over the a and b string. So depending which strings you are using.

Nothing to worry about, I've used these for two years now and they don't open or get holes in them, never had that happen. Very durable and you do as instructed, drape over the strings, in the sound hole and another set up behind the headstock. Don't worry, just do! BTW, I've also been using this brand only, for this time period. Never used anything else, just do.

Thanks everyone. I have one in the headstock well and no worries there. I'm feeling better about the pack touching the back of the guitar. Appreciate that re-assurance. My 2002 814ce is just soooo sweet. I'd hate for anything to get water damage. Thanks again.

No worries, on some of my thinner guitars the packs touch the bottom.

Boveda is the same as D'adarrio/Planet Waves. I've never had a problem and they touch the bottom of my guitar. I highly recommend them.
