What a treasure you have! I sure hope you have guitar-playing descendants because that one needs to stay in the family.

I hope a visit to an excellent technician is in order to get it into playable and stable condition. Please post some after pics too, so I can drool a little more.

Congratulations. I know you'll cherish this guitar forever and I'll guess that in time one of your children will as well.

Take that beauty to the best luthier you can locate and have it looked at. Looks like the bridge could use some attention, but other than that it looks like it's in dandy shape. BTW... If your gramps was the original owner, perhaps you can have that bridge work done under warranty? Not sure how it would play out with Martin, but worth a try.

Guitars like that deserve to live on in the family. I feel the same way about my dad's old J-45. Take care of it and play it and tell everyone about it and your grandpa every chance you get. The music is sweeter with a story.

It will definitely need some TLC to get it back right, but before you put it in the hands of a good repair person humidify it for a couple of weeks. That bridge issue definitely needs to be professionally addressed, but being overly dry may have caused the lift. My J-45 did the same thing.

Yes. That would be great. It definitely needs work and if I could get it done without having to ship it somewhere that would be great.

Comes with a wonderful history and should clean up very nicely in the right hands.

Yes it will. This local guy used to work for George Gruhn restoring prewar Martin's and Gibson's. He has worked on most of my guitars (proper setups and one total refret) and he's great!
