NGD—Grandpa’s Martin
I posted on another forum about my late grandfather’s 1982 HD-28 that my aunt has had since he passed away in 2006. Well, she gave it to me today! She said my grandpa (her dad) would be so proud of me and the he would want me to have it. I’m very honored and grateful to receive it. It will be a cherished family heirloom.
It’s late now and I’ve got a long road trip ahead of me tomorrow so I can’t really post any decent pictures yet, but I will in a few days. Where I’m staying tonight has poor lighting so I can’t really inspect it or get any good photos. I can definitely tell that the bridge has lifted. It also may have a crack. The pickguard has started to shrink but it doesn’t have a pickguard crack. Like I said, it’s too dark to really check it out but I’ll fill in the details soon. I’m hesitant to even post these pics (because I hate poor photos) but I snapped these earlier at her house when she gave it to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's awesome Chris! Happy for you. There's a luthier here in town who can restore any issues it may have. Let me know if you want his contact info. I bet that old HD-28 sounds great!

I got my late grandfather’s all laminate 1970s epiphone, which plays like a shoe box. Wanna trade?

It's obvious you're super excited for all of the right reasons. I'm sure that's what he would have wanted and makes the decision reassuring to your aunt. Thanks for sharing the photos and looking forward to seeing more.
