Trying to learn guys. It just dawned on me that he said the fret buzz moved from the 12th fret to the 7th. Is it possible that the truss rod is too tight causing a reverse bow of the neck.

But for the singular case of "back buzz", a different issue altogether.

Sorry about no question mark. I am not the best at typing on this phone.

That's worth having all by itself. Simple, once you're convinced it's true.

My take is that 4 mm (.16" or thereabouts) of saddle height is about perfect. Action at the 12th fret of 1.75 mm high E and 2.25mm low E is where I set mine (1/16" and 3/32"). String buzz can depend on how hard one plays, but if I get string buzz at that setting then the frets are wrong and need to be dressed or something else is wrong. To me, that is high normal action with typical acoustic strings.

Of all the factors mentioned here, the ones that I think are truly critical are (1) whatever height plays best once you've got the neck relief set correctly -- until the relief is right, the rest is a waste of time, and (2) maintaining a workable (<45 degrees) string angle behind the saddle, and (3) having significantly more of the saddle in the bridge groove than standing above it. How much saddle exposure is too much depends greatly on how much saddle is "in" the bridge. On visuals alone, your saddle appears fairly high, but not excessively so. String buzz is rarely just a saddle height issue.

I seem to get the most sound out of my guitars when the strings are 1/2" from bottom of strings to the top. I read this somewhere back in the seventies and have use it for "rule of thumb". I haven't any science to back this up with just my ears.

I suggested a taller nut previously. It just came to me why that was wrong. What I really meant was "Are the nut slots cut too deep?"
