Default What's wrong with this picture?

While in the process of converting my vinyl to mp3s, I happened upon the following seven-record set I'd forgotten I even had.

Methinks the editor was either asleep at the wheel or totally ignorant of his subject.

In too much of a hurry. Found and acoustic guitar photo without looking carefully at it. May have purchased rights to the cheapest photo available. In the world we live in some youth don't even know what they are doing. Might be the case that the person assigned to the cover did not even know the artists. Although the design looks very old 1960's or 70's?

Default Wrong?

All listed guitarists play mainly classical (nylon string) guitars

Ha ha! But the 12 string is sitting on a bed of velvet, so you know it's a high class production.

i used to have that set, but had completely forgotten about it! bought it at a used record store. odd mixed of classical and flamenco.

also, besides the inappropriate instrument, i believe her name is renata tarrego.

Maybe the record is all those artists playing the intro to "Stairway to Heaven"

It is indeed quite a mix of styles. The collection contains 77 pieces, none of which employ steel strings, much less a 12-string.

And you're correct, the spelling should be Tarrago instead of Tarraga, an error that is at least consistent within the set. Discogs uses the incorrect spelling when referencing this album, places and asterisk by it, and links to her individual page that has the correct spelling.

Interesting note about Tarrago from Wikipedia: "Unlike the majority of classical guitarists, who play notes with their fingernails, Tarragó used her fingertips."

Now to revise my mp3 tags ...

I won't let the 12-string bother me, either. After not listening to my albums for so long, I'm hoping that the convenience of mp3s, coupled with a planned-for wireless speaker system, will prompt me to play these more often.

In addition to this collection, I rediscovered these:

Julian Bream and John Williams Live - I especially love the Debussy pieces!

John Williams Plays Bach - the Complete Lute Music on Guitar

The Unique Art of Andres Segovia

The Genius of Andres Segiovia - A Bach Recital

Manitas De Plata and His Flamenco Magic

Regarding the Manitas album, though I'm not much drawn to flamenco, I think I purchased it after seeing him at London's Royal Albert Hall some time around 1968.

LOL! Your comment made me imagine all these great classical artists giving that a try in an alternate version of "The Trial of Ralph McTell" !

i think i had the first 4 of those records as well. you are missing my favorite, julian bream - baroque guitar, however. it's a very fine record and worth finding. i bet you could get it for really cheap, there were tons of copies around.
