Aside from choosing a location not on an exterior wall, consider that nearly every guitar store on the planet hangs their guitars from the neck. I live in earthquake country, and I don't have a humidity controlled room, so mine stay in their cases when not in use.

If they look pretty on the wall, why not. Just make sure the picture hooks don't snag on your shirt when you try and play them.

Not for me...from where I stay, my house is subjected to swings in temperature and scale as high as 34 celsisus and constant high humidity (almost like 90%). It's also dusty - cleaning the exterior of the guitars is fine but cleaning the interior will be a nightmare. The collected dust will get "wet" and over time, may harm the wood.

I keep all my guitars in the case - only one gets to sit in the stand which is the one that I'm currently playing and it gets rotated out, cleaned and kept in the case before the next one comes out.

My guitars all do different things, to me that's the point of having a few guitars, I like having immediate access to the sounds i want to hear, so I leave my guitars out of the cases and use both a wall rack and a floor rack.

If you have lacquer finished guitars, you need to be careful about the material on the hanger. I use those guitar hanger bra things.

Default Not at my house

My guitars are in my hands or in thier cases.

Never in over 50 years of guitar ownership have I had a wall hanger.
Not going to start now.

I like pristine, well cared for guitars, and those who buy from me appreciate that they are clean and well cared for...read that as having been gently played and stored in cases.

Guess I have an opinion on this.

I have been using String Swings for years. As for any potential structural issues, I really shouldn't be concerned; after all there's already about 170lbs of string tension trying to fold your guitars in half, and the hanger shanks are long enough so even a deep bodied guitar hangs clear of the wall.

Every guitar in my signature is hanging on a String Swing hanger in my dedicated guitar room, on an interior wall with a whole house humidifier, no kids, no pets, and no smoke. They all get played regularly and stay in pristine condition. Been this way for many years. No problems.

If you ever have children, drunk guests or elderly visitors with imperfect balance, it's not inconceivable someone will steady themselves by grabbing for whatever is at hand, e.g. your wall-hung guitar.

It's very difficult to control humidity and temperature when a guitar is out in a large room (vs. nice and comfy in a case).

Your strings will also die quickly when exposed to the elements.

Casual passers-by or neighbors may be treated to a great view of what you have to steal.

So yeah, hanging guitars on the wall is a great idea.

If a tornado hits my house, my guitars are going to be low on my list of concerns.

It's easy enough to hang them on interior walls.

We don't have drunk guests. If we did, we could lock the room where the guitars are. The elderly guests, so far, don't go wandering around careening off walls, and none of the guitars are where they'd be an easy thing for someone to grab in a moment of panic anyway. The guitars are too high for unsteady toddlers to grab to keep their balance. The children who visit who are tall enough to reach them are generally well-behaved enough not to go messing around with things they're not supposed to. On the rare occasion when a more "adventurous" child is going to be around and potentially unsupervised, the guitars can be put away in a locked room, and a case will not protect them anyway in that instance. The pets can't reach the guitars when they're up on hangers. Oh, and they're on Hercules "grabber" hangers so can't be knocked off, and they have padded wall coverings behind them so would be cushioned even if they were knocked against the wall.

We control temperature and humidity inside the whole house, and did so for our comfort long before I owned any valuable guitars.

No "elements" to be exposed to except temperature- and humidity-controlled indoor air, so . . . strings are fine.

Can't see 'em from the street or the neighbors' houses.

So yeah, just because you want to case yours doesn't mean everyone should.

Yet somehow I've been doing it for decades with very expensive instruments, must be magic........

When not enjoying, do you keep the Ferrari in the garage or out in the driveway? No brainer.

Yes, assuming the room isn’t subject to wide temperature and humidity swings and that direct sunlight doesn’t shine on the guitars.

Any stress imposed by gravity is insignificant.
