More Partial Capo!

The go-to 2nd fret partial capo position, on a piece from my CD "Faint But Visible". Did this video same day as my NPR Tiny Desk entry "Littlehale/Brinkley Waltz, this past winter.

So cool I need to try that capo thing but need more info on capo's as I've never used them .

The cool thing is you can play normal chord shapes below the capo IF all the strings are fretted or covered by the capo. Then, experiment with other shapes - an A major chord is a good example, sounds good but very different. And you can fret on either side of the capo for strings 6,2 & 1. I got into it because you get some open tuning benefits along with some familiar territory, without retuning. Although this contraption works with some altered tunings, too. David Wilcox had one 20-odd years ago, and I hacksawed a couple before they started making them. The keyser seems to allow the most access options, but I have the shubb version, too. Try it, you'll like it.

I will . I got somewhat confused knowing what to use I wasn't sure if there was specific ones or just used a normal capo repositioned lol

Then I see two string banjo capos , the spider capo which seems to confuse me lol as eould block use of a open string under its position.

So is there a specific capo 2 string , 3 string etc ?

Keyser calls theirs the "shortcut", covers strings 3,4, & 5. It's the most prevalent configuration, but they make a couple others.
You can get the same effect by turning a normal keyser upside down, put the neck side on the strings instead- try it and you'll see what I mean. I do also sometimes use a reg. capo across only some strings, like you said. There are a lot of possibilities.
