Congrats! I hope you love it... let us know. The CF guitars are so nice for road trips and having a good guitar in places you wouldn't otherwise take one invites some great experiences. This is a picture of me playing at Echo Ampitheater, Carson National Park. When I was done playing I could hear clapping all around me.... It was from hikers and tourists hundreds of yards away. The natural acoustics project the sound throughout the valley. It was a good hike to get up to the sweet spot and I'm pretty sure the gig bag weighed more than the guitar. But it was so worth it... (These are two pictures blended together. The top is a distance shot of where I was playing and the bottom is up close)
I am hoping that we can get a good ultralight bag built for these guitars at some point. Does anyone here at the AGF work at the North Face or know someone who does? JR

Nice photo and the sound must have been amazing to hear!
RainSong used to offer a gigbag that was made for the WS1000 (and smaller) but also fits the DR1000. Several years ago, I ordered one from RainSong several years through my local dealer for $60, and it is quite light but I'm not sure RainSong still has them available. You could inquire with customer service.

I think even standard CF epoxy resin can withstand over 300-350degF... and high temp over 500degF.

I have found the Access Stage 1 bags to be a great solution for lightweight, protectiveness and carrying comfort. Good price, too.
I DO wish gig bag makers would incorporate some of the technology used in backpack to gig bags - hip belts, airflow backs, super comfy straps, etc. |

Penny introduced me to Access Bags. They come in a wide range of size and price and I found one that is perfect for my RS Parlor. I am really happy with the Access.

Penny - yeah, I'm pretty sure just about every RS Parlor owner would love to swap their hardshell for something new technology and more useful for travel. Emerald ships some nice little backpacks with some of their smaller guitars like the X5 and X7. I hope the future sees something nice made for these guitars. JR

I think the Access site gives specs, including weight. If not, I'm sure an email would get your answer.

The Cargo should be here early next week. I'll give my opinions once I get it. If I don't like it, it'll go up in the classifieds pretty quickly. But, I suspect it'll be a great travel guitar!

I have a Black Ice Parlor that I bought new from Ted that lives in a black pickup truck
through cold/wet Missouri to hot/dry Utah to hot/humid Texas. Very hot in that truck but the guitar stays in tune and ready to play. I am so pleased with the Black Ice that I bought a CO-WS1000N2 to keep in an even hotter RV (I leave my AC off while I'm at work). The only weather conditions i have to worry about are tornadoes and hurricanes. |

I have had my Emerald X7 for 12 months now and it had become my goto acoustic for much of what I do. I still love my tonewood guitars and am playing my Eastwood more these days but, if not for my Gypsy Jazz obsession, the X7 would account for 90% of my acoustic playing time during the last year.
The Emerald gig bag is a nice piece of kit, well made and light but it is still heavier than the guitar (at 1.7kg, the guitar weighs 1.6kg, interestingly my Rob Aylward Selmer style weighs even less than the X7).

Well, the Cargo arrived today, earlier than I expected! I'll string it today and give a quick review.

I had a Blue Heron case made for my JM1000. Their cases are light weight, protective, very well designed and constructed! Here is their website: http://www.blueheroncases.com Matt |
