Default Android app that converts audio to tabs

Hello to everyone here!

Let me introduce you to a free Android application TabWriter! My friend and I launched it on google play market recently and are still developing and improving it. We ourselves enjoy playing guitar and are very excited to release an app that could be also helpful for others

Idea is very simple. You can play any melody on your guitar, and our application will try to recognize the notes you played and automatically convert them to guitar tabs in real time. After that you can edit any parts of the tabs you want, and share it with friends.

To find our application, just search for "TabWriter" on google play market.

Currently, TabWriter only supports single toned melodies, and the transcription may not be 100% accurate. Please, play loudly, clearly and slowly for better results.

What do you think about this? Should we continue to work on it? Any feedback is highly appreciated

It looks promising. I am installing it now and will play around tonight to see.

I think I will use a plug-in mic/pickup to improve accuracy.

I installed and tried this app. It has a wonderfully clean user interface and it really does accurately tab out the notes.

The major problem, making it unusable, is that it ALWAYS assumes the highest possible string. For example, if you play an A note on the fifth fret of string 6, it will show up as an open A string (zero fret on string 5).

So, tabbing any song beyond the fourth or fifth fret does not work.

Hello Fazool! Thank you a lot for your feedback!

I have seen your review on play market too and my friend Adilet answered your message there. We're still working on this app and finding better tab positions is something what is planned for future releases.

Please, stay tuned! I hope that we'll receive a better rating from you after a forthcoming release

DOn't misunderstand my comments or review - it is a high quality and professionally made product. Gorgeous and simple interface and works really well. Currently it just isn't useful.

I can't use it if it doesn't also generate the notation.

Hello Ruark! What kind of notation are you talking about?
It does generate tabs in text format. You need to click the "share" button and then you can send the written tabs to your email.

Des it transcribe polyphonic music (i.e., playing more than one note at the same time)?

I haven't seen a piece of software which can do that even on desktop computers.

Sorry to break the news to you!

I mean the "sheet music" notation.

Melodyne can do the basics. They just haven't tried to wrap it up as a transcription product, possibly because it's too hard to do something truly useful and also a limited market.
