Default Good starter recorders/mics

I'm wanting to record my acoustic and vocals, and get the files on my computer (mac, has Garageband) and throw up on soundcloud. Can anyone suggest a decent, inexpensive product for this?

I've looked at the zoom recorders, but anything better value/quality? Bear in mind, in Australia, I'm having to pay 50% plus whatever US prices may be.

Not consider interface/mic setup at present, too fussy for my basic needs.

I have the Tascam DR07-mkII and like it a lot. It's small and easy to operate and transferring the files are simple. I don't do any editing but the sound quality is very good. Check out the DR05 for a few dollars less.

Strong recommend on an Apogee Mic... plugs straight into your Mac and straight into Garageband with virtually no setup or config. Great sounding, small, compact unit and relatively inexpensive. I've used mine a lot (I'm a huge Apogee fan).
