New Zoom AC-2 Acoustic Creator Pedal
Wow, that's pretty cool. I can only imagine the number of players who will jump at that. Their modeling is impressive on the electric side.
BTW, I pre-ordered the Zoom AC-2. I hope I don't regret it when the Acoustic Flyrig is released. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Hi Martingitdave,
Why the zoom and not the Tonedexter for example? Fly rig is going to be too large for your pedalboard. Cuki

Hi Cuki, I wanted something small and "good enough" that will run on batteries that I can use with house PA sound. I like that it has reverb, some level of modeling, EQ, a tuner, boost for finger picking, and feedback buster.

Did you see that two AA batteries only last 2h?
that's official specifications. Real-world one could be shorter... You'd better be sure, your batteries are fresh when the show begins. Cuki

Please let us know how your AC-2 is working out for you. I'm wondering, for instance, just how effectively that push-a-button-and-forget-it feedback killer will work for you. The A3's feedback killer, by comparison, provides up to three notches, identifies the notch frequency and allows the user to adjust the depth of the notch when desired. |

[Edit] Here's the website data: AC adapter DC9V, 500 mA center negative (ZOOM AD-16). Batteries: 2 AA (about 3 hrs continuous) That might not be so bad.

Good point. I don't really want to model a different guitar. For instance I really liked the D45 model in the A3. It sounded perfect for my Martin Dreadnought with the Trance Amulet. I'm hopeful that it, or the round shoulder dread setting would sound good with the Taylor dreadnought. It was a very close approximation of a mic'ed tone. I also forgot to mention that I like the 12 string setting that was in the A3, and this also has it. The bodyrez effects works OK with 12 strings, but isn't as good. Duracell longlife AA are 2100mAh but give only 1.5V WIth two it makes 2.1 Ah for 3v, wassuming conversion efficiency is close to 90% you get 0.63Ah The plug is 9V 0.5A, the real current draw should be half: so 2h is realistic. You'd better have 4 recharged NIMH to get through the gig. (Note that NIMH is 1.2V I think) Cuki

New Zoom AC-2 Acoustic Creator Pedal
At Batteries Plus they have 2750 mAh (1.2v) rechargeable AA batteries that should last longer. If you show them a business card, they will flag you as a commercial account and give you 20% discount from then on. I would expect these batteries to last through a 4 hour gigs even if the ratings say otherwise.

Yeah but the conversion from 2x1.2 to 9V instead of 2x1.5 to 9V is going to cost what you gain...

In the AC-2 manual on page 12 there is a setting for calibrating the battery indicator to NiMH or alkaline. NiMH batteries start at 1.2v but the voltage falls off much more slowly during use. Overall energy capacity is quite a lot higher. Just ask anyone who does flash photography! I expect that high mAh rechargeables would have no problem making it through four forty minute sets.

I am sure it would. No problem. I did not say It would not work. But the gain won't let you use it as a 9V battery in a tube screamer for example. It is not a "leave it and don't think about it" thing. You can't go to a gig if you are not sure that your NIMH cells are at least half charged. For some people, it is not worth it.
