2014 David Webber OM cutaway, flamed maple/chocolate hued red cedar - Like New
For Sale: David Webber OMc, cutaway in near mint/like new condition. This is a uniquely beautiful guitar in every way.
$2,500 -Built in 2014 by David Webber of Vancouver, Canada -Purchased NEW in July 2015 from the Minor Chord in Littleton, Mass. -Flamed Big Leaf Maple back & sides -Western Red Cedar top (Chocolate hued....very desirable) -Minimal playing time -Full specs below -No trades -Replacement Value is $3,300 (that is what it is insured for) PRICE: $2,500 Condition: Carefully maintained/handled, always cased & humidified. Near mint. Best described as 9.95/10 condition with no issues. Case is hard shell TKL in 9.95/10 condition. I am selling as I have accumulated quite a few guitars. This is the start of my guitar reduction. David Webber, in my estimation, makes the best guitar for the money and he is fabulous with Maple........not an easy wood to master in guitar making. Kim Walker is my other favorite maple guitar builder and I sold my Walker maple for in excess of $20,000. This Webber OMc ranks right up there with the Walker in tone. By the way, maple is probably the best wood for recording. Specifications Guitar: Webber OM Bracing on Top: X Bracing Case: TKL hardshell Cutaway: Venetian (soft) Dimensions-Total Length: 40 1/4" Dimensions-Body Length: 19 1/2" Dimensions-Body Upper Bout: 11 3/4" Dimensions Body-Waist: 9 1/2" Dimensions-Body Lower Bout: 15 1/4" Dimensions-Body Depth: 3.5" to 4.0" @ heel Dimensions-Nut Width: 1.75", 1 3/4", 44.45mm Dimensions-String Spacing @ Bridge: 2 3/16" Dimensions-Radius: 12" Dimensions-Scale: 25.4" Electronics: None Fingerboard: Ebony Finish: High Gloss Polyester Frets to Neck: 14 Frets Total: 20 Inlays: Maple W logo in headstock and maple rosette Luthier: David Webber Luthier Website: webberguitars.com Neck Truss Rod: 2 way adjustable in headstock; 3/16" allen wrench Notes: "SERIAL #4101914: David Webber wrote me that the last 4 digits of the serial number are the important ones. The 410 is irrelevant and is the prefix on all the instruments. The 19 is the 19th guitar that year. The 14 is the year, 2014 it was made. Add up the various production numbers over the years and yours is the xxxth of 1409 guitar to date through 7-1-15. The guitars can be shipped much later than the year of manufacture, just to keep it interesting. And in the past when I built more than 100 instruments I added a digit that will further confuse the historians someday. All the data is kept in frayed black book with hand entries from many of my past employees and myself." Fabulous specimen of David Webber's well-known prowess with maple. I have the same wood combo in a Webber 00 and it's a lifetime keeper. This one looks gorgeous - well priced for the flamed maple back and excellent condition.
Bruce is wonderful to work with. You can deal with complete confidence and enjoy a guitar in as good or better condition than described. |

I had a Webber OM cutaway, quilted Oregon big leaf maple and cedar, that I truly enjoyed. Wonderful instrument. And it was built in 1999. Think of all the subsequent experience David acquired before building the OP's instrument listed for sale. I currently have another of David's maple gems (see below). Yes, David is one of the best luthiers on the planet when it comes to using maple.

I have a cedar/maple combo (not Weber) and it's a great combination. I've heard it said that cedar doesn't have much silking; this top puts the lie to that.

Im a Webber fan, having owned one previously (that I sold and shoulda bought back when it was offered) but Im thinking this must sound as stunning as it looks. I'm huge fan of Webbers and have two (Roundbody and OMc), both generously appointed. It took some time to find them with the appointments that I like and they're definite keepers. It has already been said but it bears repeating that Webbers are one of the most underrated guitars out there. You definitely get A LOT of guitar for the money.

Derailed thread by Sixx........fun....read on for the photo description.....
Hey Sixx,
Thanks for taking time to view my website. The photo you mention: Mickey Mantle and I were sitting on the bench in spring training, 1979, in Fort Lauderdale. It was after some batting practice. I asked him about bunting and learned he never bunted right handed, only from the left side. And, he never push bunted, always dragging to the right side of the infield. There you have it.........yes, priceless photo. Wish I had shots of me with Yogi, Whitey, etc. Fun times!
