Smile cover of Gordon Lightfoot's tune "Song For a Winter's Night."

I put up a cover of Gordon Lightfoot's tune "Song For a Winter's Night."

I filmed it on our digital camera so I concentrated on the guitar and my voice that's why you don't see the rest of me.

Feedback welcome!

Bill, that was great!!! I really enjoyed listening! You have a nice voice and the guitar playing was sweeeet! BTW - The Taylor sounds great! And, why not show more of yourself? Like I said, I enjoyed listening, but there wasn't much to watch, at least you could include the left hand!!!

I don't know this song, but could hear Gordon singing and playing it in your version. Nicely done. You have a nice voice and you accompany yourself well. Why do I feel so deprived? I want to see who I'm listening to! I want the whole experience! Why didn't you just show your left hand? Why pick your right hand? Or why not just show your foot tapping or a vase of flowers?

You need to forget about not showing YOU in the video. It's so unnatural to watch only your right hand when YOU are singing, from your mouth, and have a left hand as well, and are playing a guitar and sitting on something, and showing some emotion in your face as you sing, and glancing at your fingers as they move. Show the whole package or just do an mp3 audio.

I just don't understand videos that cut off the rest of the performer.

Your performance is worthy of the full picture! Show it.

Just my opinion.

I will put more videos up tomorrow and I will show more of me and myself playing.

Thanks! I'll look forward to it! I don't like keyhole views of a performer.

Edit:

Listening again, several times, you have a great John Denver vibe to your voice. Guess that's not a surprise. Showing the whole picture, as you perform, would be profound. And "profound" is the right word. Thanks. Looking forward to it.

Very, very nice. Playing and vocal were excellent. Coincidentally, I was working on some Lightfoot covers last night after getting home from an open mic (some nights ya just can't get enough). That was one, as was Don Quixote and Long Thin Dawn. I like his less well known stuff.

thanks for posting it!

Excellent job Bill, that's one of my favourite Lightfoot songs too.

One terrific aspect of YouTube, is to be able to pick up your guitar and play along. It was a pleasure jammin' with you Bill, even though we've never met.

Bob

By the way, I really liked that lil' x-2-4-3-4-x chord you used at the 2:21 mark.
