Default Fishman Matrix Change?

I hear people commenting on how the old Fishman Matrix was better than the new version. Does anyone have more details about this?

The latest Fishman I mixed in a live situation sounded excellent, so if true then it could be because it doesn't sound like it used to, doesn't necessarily mean it is less good!

Some people are saying that the old version was better than the new version because most who were around to hear the original (1991) have had their hearing deteriorate considerably since that version was released.
