Default New Song: The Great Canadian Hockey Game

If you like hockey, you may enjoy this. Even if you don't, you may still at least appreciate it. I wrote it as a fun, lighthearted little ditty. It's just under 2 min. long. I wrote this song as a contest entry to replace the anthem for CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. The winner was announced a couple of weeks ago and I didn't win, but in hindsight I couldn't have because my attempt is not the anthem-style song they were looking for. Oh well. Of course, there's also the chance that the song plain sucks. I (and my wife) like it though.

I'd appreciate all feedback, especially on the recording quality (I'm still very new to this), guitar playing and vocal. I have a friend who plays celtic fiddle. This song has that kind of vibe to me and I'm thinking of asking him to come up with something. Do you think this could work for this song? Please don't be shy. Thanks. Hope you enjoy!

THE GREAT CANADIAN HOCKEY GAME
(c) 2008 Tom Guertin, All Rights Reserved
-----------------------------------------
All across the nation
Fans are playing along
Celebrate the great Canadian game

In backyards and arenas
On roads and frozen ponds
Celebrate the great Canadian game

Chorus:
Yeah, hockey is the great Canadian game
Hockey is the great Canadian game
Nothing feels better
Than wearing your team sweater
To the great Canadian hockey game, heh!

The crowd is in a frenzy
It's time to drop the puck
Celebrate the great Canadian game

Teams battle hard all season
To win their Stanley Cup
Celebrate the great Canadian game

Chorus:
Yeah, hockey is the great Canadian game
Hockey is the great Canadian game
Nothing feels better
Than wearing your team sweater
To the great Canadian hockey game

Chorus:
Yeah, hockey is the great Canadian game
Hockey is the great Canadian game
Nothing feels better
Than wearing your team sweater
To the great Canadian hockey game
Yeah, nothing feels better
Than wearing your team sweater
To the great Canadian hockey game, heh!

I think it's a fun, very happy sounding song. Nice swinging guitar playing and your voice is good, too.

And the recording sounds great to me, very clear.

What...no hockey fans?! Or is the song too "hokey" instead of "hockey"???

If I'm correct, many replies usually means a song is quite good or bad. Few or no replies usually means a song is only avarage, so if no one else replies then I'll take it as that -- and that's ok.

Regardless, thanks for looking -- and listening for those who did, or will -- even if this 'un isn't to your liking.
