Today I was offered $20,000 in Govment Grant Money

As a rule I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, but in this case I was at Mom's house and it was possible that the call was from a healthcare provider and the area code checked out so I answered:

C: Hello, is this Mrs. Smith? (heavy accent)

No, I'm her son. Who's calling?

C: Could I speak to Mrs. Smith.

No, who's calling?

C: I'm calling to tell you that Mrs. Smith has won 5 million dollars and a car from Publisher's Clearinghouse!

Really? I don't think she's ever entered the sweepstakes.

C: Yes, she has won 5 million dollars and a car.

We don't want it. (at this point I begin to hear a baby crying in the background)

C: You don't want it?

No. What is that noise I hear?

C: All we need for you to do...

I hear a baby crying in the background. Why do I hear a baby crying in the background. What's the matter with the baby?

C: You hear no baby crying...

Yes, yes I do. Why is that baby crying?

C: You hear no baby...

(had enough fun) Don't ever call back here again. (hang up phone and tell Mom she's just won 5 million dollars and a car, but I told them she didn't want it...laughs all around)

WoW!!!! What I could do with 10K right now. And 2 offers.....that makes 20K. Boy I sure am glad I got out of bed today.

Of course the voice on the other end of the line struggled through the script he had to read (I have heard the same script twice today) and in the background I could hear hub bub of a boiler room with dozens of little voices presumably offering US Govment grant money to other lucky US citizens.

These little message readers do have information on the call recipient. He even told me my address. If they can get me to confirm my address etc they will transfer me to the closer. I never let them get that far, but I do mess with them.

Eventually, I unload a garbage truck worth of verbal feces on them and they still try to convince me that it is all real. Eventually I ask the little pin head "What third world S Hole are you calling me from". It really is fun messing with them. Finally I hang up.

Tonight I will dream of what I could have done with the 20K if only I would have cooperated.

Oh Well!

Maybe they will call back tomorrow?

Interestingly, an Ethiopian prince offered to buy my horse for $5000, but he only has a $50,000 check, and asked me to deposit it for him and just write him back a check for $40,000 as a thank you for the service...
