Question Alvaerez DY57 neck joint, neck reset

Has anyone ever taken the neck out of an Alvarez DY57 from around 1970? One would think that a decent solid-spruce-top guitar like this would have a dovetail joint. But I'm beginning to think that this neck was attached with a butt joint and dowels just like the cheaper plywood models. I steamed into the 15th fret slot to no avail. I'm about to remove the end of the fingerboard to
see what is under the 14thand 15th fret area.

I have removed later Alvarez necks (mid-1970's and later) and they were a standard dovetail, though they did not extend into the body quite as far as a Martin. That means that the gap was a bit short of the 15th fret. You may try drilling at an angle before cutting the fingerboard.
