Default Martin robustness

I've only had my Martin for about a week but I've noticed this over many years of playing them at jams and shops. Even though my Martin is lighter than my Taylor (that I've had for 15 years and it's seen most of the country and is in great condition) it just seems to feel more substantial, or solid, or robust than the Taylor. Has anyone else noticed this??

It's a Martin!

(Take that puppy down to the jam down at the Brewery in Boulder Creek and let it meet some other nice Martins & their owners...)

No.

I like Martins, but Taylors are very well made and well engineered.

Which model Martin is it?

No. My Martin is noticeably lighter, but neither feels more solid than the other.

Wink

in our house we have taylors and martins, and some other instruments. the taylors and martins just feel like nice quality instruments. now if your talking robust, then i must mention the Burns #17(http://burnsrepair.com/Banjo_Gallery_15.html)

now that is robust! solid walnut pot, neck, with striped ebony fretboard and headstock. underneath that medium goatskin head is a strong built tub-a-phone tonering.

if our instruments got in a fight while we were gone, the all mahogany weissenborn would probably get whipped first-it would get torn to bits. the weber mandolins would go next-well, maybe the Flamenco. no matter, within minutes #17 could take out all 4 of these. the taylors and martins wouldn't stand a chance either. those 20 nickel plated brass brackets would smash thru any poly UV coated or nitro tonewood in seconds. broken necks everywhere, yep thats what we would find.

#17 might have a few scratches, maybe a slightly bent bracket-maybe not.

i know without thinking if worse comes to worse, i want 17 having my back!

Thanks Dave!! I don't think my little OM would be heard over the crowd, but I do like that Redwood Ale...
