Beautiful guitars! I played my Olson yesterday and there's just no comparison to other guitars. Let us know how yours sounds when she arrives.

Yes, it's sad, this affliction. I think many of us have it, and I'm sure there is a listing in the DSM for this! Haha!

Steve, I'm very excited for you. Unfortunately I made some foolish decisions years ago and had to sell the Olson I had commissioned, but I am glad it is in the hands of AGF user frances50 (Frances). I really don't "need" one, since my Charis is every bit the equal in terms of build and tone quality, but at the same time, I enjoy the variation in tone, and, well, you can never have too many guitars!

Anyway, yours is a stunner, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you once it's finally in your hands!

You must be new here

Seriously, though, I'm not sure what direction you were going with that comment. Are you focused more on the outlay of cash or on the idea that an Olson is somehow the pinnacle of what one could get in a guitar? The former is a function of budget and will vary from one person to another and the latter is a wildly subjective opinion that will very from one person to another.

Well, it looks like my guitar is almost complete - a few more pics below, along with my case choice - I think I'll go with the green one. He'll be completing setup in the next week or so, then shipping time! I can't wait!

Beautiful Olson.

Also love the carved block Jim uses to mate to the bridge for clamping. Anyone know if other luthiers do it this way?

Very nice! I love a fret board with a border inlay. The lower bout looks to be almost 5" deep!

Thanks everyone! I'm excited to get it. The cedar top is a tad bit lighter than I expected, but so far I'm happy based on the pics. I also have Larry Robinson doing a truss rod cover for me on this one - it's a small thing, but something to really personalize the guitar without a lot of bling.

The build is finished and guitar will be shipped on Monday! Jim sent a number of studio shots of my guitar - won't be long now.

Looks fabulous. Love the silking on the top that goes closer to the sides!

I play my Heinonen Olson-like SJ nearly everyday and enjoy it more by the day. Hope you do as well!

Thank you for posting these pictures. I may have a problem though. When I looked at the back of the headstock I marveled at the attention to detail regarding the mitering of the purfling and actually moaned in lust. My wife got this weird look on her face.

It brings a whole new meaning to the term "guitar porn" and I had the realization that maybe I need to learn a few songs my poor poor bride likes and serenade her.

Anyway, congratulations on a beautiful guitar. Enjoy it in good health with those you love.
