Default Feeler Threads in Classifieds

Are 'Feeler' threads still allowed in the Classifieds section? If so, is there any specific protocol?

I searched FAQ and couldn't find anything concerning this.

Thanks in advance.

Lee

What are you feeling around for Lee?
People post 'Want to Buy' ads fairly regularly

Maybe send a note to one of the mods there and they will let you know -
otherwise, if you are looking for a particular guitar or piece of equipment, you should be ok

The only protocol I am aware of is you have to list a sale price and/or trade value

That's my understanding as well. You can't just ask "give me an offer".

I think that answers your question. No, 'feelers' are not allowed, in which a person posts pictures of an instrument (or not) and asks what others might offer if he or she were to put it up for sale. A price has to be included, which eliminates the speculative aspect of a feeler thread.

Feeler threads to sell something have never made sense to me. If you want to sell something or see if someone would buy it, then put it up for sale...

Something is either for sale or it isn't. In effect, though, every for sale ad is a feeler ... as in, "is anyone interested in buying this thing at this price?". But looking for the highest offer without a stated selling price is verboten. Take the auction to eBAY.

I wholeheartedly agree, but always thought that the mission of a "feeler" was to see if someone wanted to purchase, not how much is someone willing to pay...

The solution to sticking to the furom rules and putting out a feeler is put a price and adding "or best offer"

Best to do some research to get actual resale info.

As long as your are a Charter Member, you can put a "feeler" post up , with a price of some sort, in the Classifieds if you wish. Not sure if you'll get the kind of response that you are hoping for, but it won't be trashed. Any reply by a registered (only) member with any kind of offer will be deleted as unauthorized "sales" activity however. PMs of course aren't public.

As mentioned by others already, you cannot post a make-me-an-offer or a best-offer-takes type of ad.

Such a "feeler thread" might technically be allowed, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
