Bridge Plate thickness
Hello,
I've got some black locust for the bridge plate on the guitar I'm working on. I was wondering about a general thickness? As in, how thin is too much, and how thick is too much. I know you wont be able to give me exact thickness, but some generalities would be really helpful. Thanks guys! |

I am unfamiliar with the wood, but if it is hard enough for the job, then between 1/16 and 3/32 is the range I'm used to using.

Its plenty hard. I've only used maple before, but I had access to some locust and I've read that it makes a good bridge plate, so I thought I would try it. Thanks for the answer. What kinds of woods do you use for the plate?

Black locust works very well for bridgeplate material. Mine are .080" thick.
