Others may have more to say here, but my understanding is that the primary differences are Modified Low Oval Neck with High Performance Taper (vs. the obvious "V" on the 00-18v) and Little narrower string spacing at the bridge on the 00-18 (2 5/32" vs. 2 1/4). There are some other smaller differences that you can see by comparing these specs:
