Just picked up a Gold Tone GM-6. Basic model, no electronics. Bought it used and relatively cheap. Fit and finish nothing to write home about, but playability is pretty good and this thing is a HOOT. Tuned like a guitar, one octave up, six strings.

I figured this would be a nice complementary instrument when jamming and a good travel companion. I don't get enough playing time to learn a new instrument right now, but this helps me think like a guitar and play around the edges of the mandolin thing.

Props to Lark Street Music -- excellent customer service. I didn't pay for expedited shipping but it almost seemed like it was teleported to me (apparently FedEx is using USPS and I got it on a Saturday).
